What's a shoebox gonna do?

So you want to do something good this Christmas? You don't know how you're going to make a difference this season because you have no money or at least not enough to do anything big enough that will impact somebody's life. The truth is...you can do something. Operation Christmas Child is a program run by Samaritan's Purse every Christmas season. It's a simple idea that has been changing lives for years now. All you do is fill a shoebox with goodies that children around the world will be blessed by. This can include anything from crayons and coloring books, barbie dolls, socks, toothbrush, or even a simple a note telling the child you are praying for them. Not only is this shoebox blessing a child in need who doesn't get to experience the same type of Christmas that we Americans get to, but this also become a blessing to the ones packing these boxes. Every year for the past 10 years or so, my family has gone shopping together to fill these shoeboxes. It's a great time to reflect on the wonderful things God has given us and to remember to thank God everyday for the love He shows for us. So this Christmas season if you're stuck trying to think of a easy but effective way to share some extra Christmas love....think Operation Christmas Child. A shoebox can actually go a long way.

The Mad Rush Begins...

This past weekend was the first full weekend of the weather actually being "cold" or at least for Southern California it was cold =] For the very reason of living in Southern California and thinking that 70ish degrees is cold...I knew that stores would be full of people this weekend buying as many sweaters and pairs of boots that they could afford. I think the stores also caught onto this idea because it seemed sweaters and warm clothes were seen all over the Sunday ads and in my search of my favorite stores online today I'm finding the front page full of wintery scenes. This being said...I've definitely found a few things that I need to get my hands on for this "cold season", I'll let you peek at a few.
This cardign is from Forever 21, they show it over a long plaid shirt, I love it! But I wish it came in black =/

Plaid is definitely a hit this season..at a party I went to a couple weeks ago it seems like every person that walked in had some sort of plaid on! I absolutely love this jacket...it's definitely going on my Christmas list:

This jacket is a little lighter weight and looks super cute! I saw it in Target last week and was tempted to buy it...I think I might go buy it this week :) And even better...it was and hopefully still on sale for only $20.00
Image and video hosting by TinyPic..from Target.com for $34.99 if it's not on sale

Happiest Place on Earth spreading the happiness..

In the middle of trying to do my homework this afternoon I somehow ended up on the Disneyland website. While my first intention was to check if my pass was blacked out anytime soon (which it isn't..yay!) I eventually wound up clicking through the website. I've been curious as to what new promotion Disneyland was going to offer next year because this year's Celebration promotion seemed to be such a huge hit. Instead of getting in free for your bithday next year, you will get in free for volunteering at a local organization from a list of pre-selected organizations. According to their website their idea in doing this is to encourage a million people to donate time to their local communities. How exciting is that! I'm totally looking forward to that and hope that this program does very well. Disneyland has such an impact on the world we live in, using that impact to better the communities around us is an amazing idea. Now if only all of the other multi million dollar companies would follow them and try to do something good for the world.

first time for everything....

Hello Blogworld,

So the saying goes there's a first time for everything...I guess that's the case here as well. My eyes have finally been opened to the blogging world. I never realized how difficult it could be to fill a page with my thoughts, so I've spent the last two hours looking at hundreds of blogs deciding what I wanted to share with the world. My conclusion...I love everything. I love learning about things all over the world, hearing new music, watching new t.v. shows, finding out what's in style, what celebrity is dating who...I think you get the point. My head is full of information that is running around at 100 m.p.h. The result, a blog about life. With so much stuff going on around us 24/7, I figured why not write about everything that resonates with me the most day to day. So here we go, let's try this out, have some fun, learn some new things, but most of all let's open our eyes to the colorful world around us.
